And also thanks to Access Theater:
Access Theater was founded in 1992 by Artistic Director, Jacqueline Christy and is currently under the direction of Producing Director, Margarett Perry.
Access Theater is devoted to the development of new works by up-and-coming writers. The name Access comes from the fact that originally the theater doubled as a manufacturing company, where Jacqueline Christy operated an access door fabricating business.
Access Theater has produced hundreds of new plays, many of which have gone on to Off-Broadway productions, regional theaters, British theaters and feature film development. Recent successes include: this spring's critically acclaimed production of "That Damn Dykstra the boxed set." ("Brian Dykstra is working hard to turn ranting into a new genre, and if he succeeds comedy may not be safe." -The Village Voice), last fall's production of Israela Margalit's "3 0'Clock in Brooklyn" ("A fun, clever play that will delight you."- NYTheatre.com), Stephen Belber's "Tape," which premiered at Access and went on to be presented at the Humana Festival of New American Plays and a feature film starring Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke and the world premiere of Brian Dykstra's "Strangerhorse" (moving to an Off-Broadway theatre in 2004.
Robert Kent of Next Magazine called it "highly impressive theater more explosive than fireworks on the pier" and named Brian Dykstra "a literary talent worth watching.") Access Theater was recognized in the New York Times as one of the theaters to pay attention to in downtown New York and has been awarded grants from the United Way and NY Community Trust, the Andrew Mellon Foundation, Phillip Morris and ART/NY.Big Apples Stops:
